Types of Spear-guns; from Reef to Open water

Hey Everyone,

So I'm diving in a shallow reef and while at the bottom I see a whopping 200lb Goliath-Grouper staring at me but here I am stuck with a small reef gun to shoot small fish! What do I do? Well first of all don't make that same mistake I did. There are basically over 10 brands of spearguns however the brands mainly used in Trinidad is Riffe, Daryl Wong and Rob-Allen. I have personally owned all types and I can say that  each has its own " special ability". All brands do carry from small to large guns to handle any type of fish you want to hunt.

Made in America, the best Riffe gun that can handle both reef and Open water is the "Baja" Riffe. The gun hand crafted to perfection was designed for all spearfishing skills levels and dive conditions. The "Baja" mid handle makes the gun one that is fun to shoot as it is more maneuverable than most guns however hold this gun down because it has a power punch recoil.

Coming from the honeymoon destination of Hawaii, Daryl Wong hand made guns are one that makes your fish wonder if you are a fish! The best suited gun that can handle both reef and open water from Wong is the "Magnum" Hybrid. The Semi-Enclosed track "Magnum" gun, designed to shoot the 5/16 diameter shaft, is the best for Mid-pelagic fish, big groupers, and ajs, another great all around gun. To top it off Daryl Wong himself makes the gun for you and to your suitability. However the pricing may be a bit more than your average budget as these guns are not sold locally.

Finally Rob-Allen, a gun that has recently been introduced to Trinidad and is making headlines due to its unique configuration. The Rob-Allen gun of choice you would love to look into is the Rob Allen " Tuna 120 roller gun". These guns are amazing. They come standard with a custom reel and a roller muzzle. This speargun offers minimal recoil with maximum power to take out a huge range of fish. the muzzle unique line guide system and power band ensures effortless reloading, and to top it off parts a cheap.

Feel free to comment on what gun you use and what is your thoughts on these guns. Check out my last post @http://divingintrinidad.blogspot.com/2018/01/speardiving-in-tobago.html
